The Bear and the Books is a children’s bookstore in Hopewell, New Jersey. I am Bobbie Fishman, formerly of Micawber Books and Labyrinth Books in Princeton, and I opened the store in 2013. I offer a wide selection of books for children and young adults—beautiful picture books, stories of faraway places, books about the earth and sky and sea, books of cars and trucks and things with wings, books that rhyme, books that tickle, books that will make you cry, books that will keep you company: books to grow up with.

Ordering Books
Although the Bear and the Books is a children’s bookstore, I also feel that it is the bookstore best placed to serve the community and I’m very happy to order any books customers want: even books for grown-ups. Often your orders will arrive within several days. Please feel free to contact the store with any book requests you may have.
Bear Mail Books
I am happy to offer Bear Mail Books, a plan that allows customers to have books thoughtfully selected and sent in the mail monthly to children. I make my selections based on what I can learn about the recipients and send books that will be surprises: good books to grow up with that not everybody knows. The charge for this service is the cost of the books sent plus a shipping charge. Perhaps you know a child who would look forward to having a new book coming in the mail every month. If so, please contact me and I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
